Amergin is the chief poet, druid and bard of the Milesians in Irish mythology. His poem "The song of Amergin" is credited as the first spoken poem in Ireland. He was also noted as a judge. It is believed that he learned his skills in arbitration and judging in Egypt. When the Tuatha de Dannan druids were casting spells to send winds to prevent the Milesian fleet from landing Amergan sang his verse "I seek the land of Ireland" which calmed the seas and allowed the ships to land and take power in the country.
