Nuada Airgetlám (Nuada of the Silver Hand) is a legendary king of the Tuatha Dé Dannan in Irish mythology. Renowned as a great warrior and leader, he lost his hand in the First Battle of Moytura which led to him having to step down from the throne, as under the law, no blemished man could rule. Bres an Áilinn took over but fell out of favour with the people leading to the God of Healing Dian Cécht and the God of craftsmanship and silversmithing, Credne creating a silver hand for Nuada which allowed him to resume his position as king.
