Danu is regarded as the Celtic Mother Goddess and Mother of the Tuatha de Danann who are named after her (Tribe of the Goddess Danu) who were a supernatural race of deities and heroes.
She is associated with fertility, wisdom, water earth and abundance. She has a particular association with rivers and the Danube is named after her.
