Original Piece

In maritime folklore, The Ninth Wave is the mightiest and the most perilous of a series of waves symbolizing both destruction and renewal. Sailors believed that waves came in sets of nine each growing in strength, the ninth being a towering almost supernatural force capable of sinking ships or cleansing the sea. In Celtic mythology the Ninth Wave is thought to be the boundary between the mortal realm and the Otherworld or Tír na nÓg, the land of eternal youth.
